Nuno Navigator will work best on a computer with

  • Windows® 7, 8 or 8.1
  • As large a screen as possible
  • At least 4GB of spare disk space for charts

Screen Size

A significant limitation of digital charts over paper ones is the size of the display. Traditional paper charts are often printed on sheets which are the best part of a yard square. The screen of a normal laptop is considerably smaller. This means that techniques such as panning and zooming need to be used to compensate. In Nuno Navigator we make these operations as fast and easy as possible but even so we would recommend that you go for the largest screen that is practical.

Disk Space

The charts are a lot of data. A full set of charts is well over 2GB. This used to be a big problem but these days most computer hard discs are plenty large enough. We suggest that you leave plenty of space for your charts. Any hard disc will start to slow down as it approaches 70% - 80% full. This is simply because the operating system has to work harder at organising files.

Operating System

Roughly speaking if your computer will run the Windows 7 or greater then it will run Nuno. You can try before you buy if there is any doubt.

Nuno Navigator is primarily designed for Windows® 7 onwards. It carries the ‘Compatible with Windows 7’ logo. This means that Nuno:

  • Is tested for compatibility and reliability on Windows 7.
  • Passed Microsoft designed tests to minimize the possibility of crashes, hangs, and reboots.
  • Represents a commitment that the product will continue to work over the life of Windows 7.
  • Meets privacy standards set forth by the Anti-Spyware Coalition.
  • Installs cleanly and reliably.
  • Eliminates unnecessary reboots.
  • Ensures compatibility with Windows 7, both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

We also test Nuno Navigator on Windows Vista. Nuno Navigator still runs successfully on Windows XP but XP is no longer supported by Microsoft so we cannot recommend using it.

Windows XP: XP is now out of support for everyone except big corporate or government customers who have paid Microsoft to extend support. We recommend you to consider moving to a supported operating system soon. Nuno will install on Windows XP but please see Fix Windows XP Internet Connection Problems.
